What is lunge mine?

A lunge mine is a type of anti-tank weapon that was used during World War II. It is a hand-held explosive device that was designed to be thrust into the sides of tanks by infantry soldiers.

The lunge mine consisted of a shaped charge of explosives attached to a wooden handle or pole. The soldier would approach a tank from a concealed position, thrust the mine into the tank's armor, and then quickly retreat before detonating the charge.

Lunge mines were capable of penetrating the armor of most tanks of the time, making them a highly effective anti-tank weapon. However, they were also very dangerous to use, as the soldier had to get into close proximity to the tank in order to successfully deploy the mine.

Although lunge mines saw limited use during World War II, they were eventually replaced by more advanced anti-tank weapons such as rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs) and anti-tank guided missiles.
